Alternative to MCQ in BCS exam suggested

UNB, Dhaka :The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Administration Ministry on Tuesday suggested looking for an alternative merit-based system to MCQ in the BCS preliminary examination.The committee also stressed the need for giving importance to articulately incorporate some issues in the Civil Service Act.The issues include keeping quota system at a minimum level in recruitment and promotion, introducing a comprehensive insurance system, giving promotion based on competence and examination results and ensuring job security.The recommendations came up in the committee’s third meeting held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its chairman HN Ashequr Rahman in the chair.Bangladesh Public Service Commission’s (BPSC’s) activities and its examination and appointment systems also came up for discussions at the meeting.Committee members ABM Fazle Karim Chowdhury, Sukumar Ranjan Ghosh, Mohammad Abdullah, Mostafa Lutfullah and Khorshed Ara Haque attended the meeting.State Minister for Public Administration Ismat Ara Sadique, Chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Public Accounts Dr Mahiuddin Khan Alamgir, Chairman of Salary and Service Commission 2013 Dr Farashuddin joined the meeting on special invitation.
