Vice President of Chattogram Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) and noted business personality Md Ruhul Amin Tarafdar called upon the authorities concerned to save the national economic lifeline famous Chattogram Port from the curse of road congestion .
He said there is an urgent need of alternative road during the construction period of alleviated expressway from Lalkhan Bazar to Airport. He said during last torrential rain for 7/8 days, the port activities specifically container delivery downed by more than fifty percent .
Sources said the target of container delivery from CCT, NCT was about 2500 TEUs containers whereas only 800 TEUs delivered . Chamber Vice President apprised it to the media persons recently .
About traffic congestions he said due to water-logging, flood, heavy rain, the pressure of covered vans increased than before . He said despite need of flyover in port road, but there should be alternative bypass road up to Airport to ease the air passengers .
He also emphasized the need of normal transportation system for airpot during the construction period of flyover. Ruhul Amin Tarafdar is the Managing Director of top terminal operator of CP .
He also emphasized the need of ISPS compliance berths in this port to compete the maritime business . He also demanded immediate transfer of truck terminal and delivery yard of CP to the proposed site of the Bay Terminal.
