Audit report to EC: AL’s surplus budget, BNP’s deficit

The ruling Awami League (AL) and its political rival the BNP submitted their last year’s financial reports to the Election Commission (EC) on Tuesday.
According to the audit reports, AL has about Tk 3.38 crore budget surplus in its account in the year while the BNP has around Tk 14 lakh deficit.
The financial reports showed that the AL had spent around Taka 3.73 crore while it earned around Tk 7.12 crore in 2015.
On the other hand, the BNP had spent around Tk 1.87 crore, while it earned around Tk 1.73 crore last year.
The delegations of the AL and the BNP submitted their reports to the EC Secretary Sirajul Islam at the Commission’s Secretariat on the day.
AL Treasurer HN Ashiqur Rahman and Office Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap submitted the party’s last year’s annual financial report.
After submitting the audit report, Abdus Sobhan Golap told reporters, “The party’s income was more than its expenditure last year.”
He also said that the main sources of income of the party were fees, which came from party leaders and activists, donations and party nomination form sale and from its publication sector.
He also said political programme and other events on different occasions, salaries and festival bonus of employees and distribution of relief materials were the main sectors of expenditure.
The AL leader said there was about Tk 20.39 crore in their party’s fund in early 2015 that stood Tk 23.87 crore at the end of the year.
BNP Chairperson’s Adviser AKM Aminul Haq and the party Joint Secretary General Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal submitted their party’s last year’s financial report to the EC Secretary.
Aminul Haq told journalists, “We’ve around Tk 14 lakh deficit in 2015 and we’ll adjust with our party’s earlier income.
He said there was around Tk 2.84 crore in BNP’s fund in early 2015 that stood about Tk 2.70 crore at the end of the year.
