Staff Reporter :
The BNP has found a conspiracy behind the Canadian court verdict where BNP has been labeled as a terrorist organisation.
“The Awami League government has staged a drama with wrong information to the Canadian court. They are trying to create an illusion ahead of the national polls to misguide the people of Bangladesh,” said BNP Senior Joint-Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi while replying to a question in a press briefing at the party’s Naya Paltan office.
Rizvi said that the verdict was given about a month ago (January 25) and suddenly an online portal of a former Chhatra League leader published it on Wednesday. Since then, the government backed news media continued publishing it.
“We are yet to get the details of the verdict,” he said.
At the same press briefing, BNP Vice-Chairman Major (retd.) Hafizuddin Ahmed said, if BNP is a terrorist organisation, according to the speech of Canadian court prosecution officer, then Awami League is clearly ahead of BNP.
In the press briefing, Ruhul Kabir Rizvi refuted an allegation made by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina over the issue of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s stepping onto Central Shaheed Minar in the capital while paying tributes to language martyrs in the midnight of 21st February.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi showed some photographs to the journalists and said Begum Khaleda Zia placed the wreath standing at the same place used by mass people and different organisations.
“She (the Prime Minister) is running the country based on lies,” Rizvi said.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Wednesday censured Begum Khaleda Zia for stepping onto the Central Shaheed Minar at the time of placing wreath there.
Prime Minister said, “How Khaleda Zia along with her party leaders stepped onto the main altar of the Shaheed Minar where the President, the Prime Minister, and the Speaker placed wreaths….She might be insensible at midnight, but what about the other leaders?”
The speech of the Prime Minister exposed her hostility against BNP Chairperson and the party, Rizvi added.
