The ruling Awami League (AL) will begin countrywide campaign for primary member collection from today (Monday). It will continue till its next party national council.
Party General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said this at a press conference held at AL party President’s Dhanmondi Political Office in Dhaka last Friday.
‘During the primary member collection, Awami League will give priority to the new members’ political identity rather than family background,’ kader told the press conference.
AL Organising Secretary AKM Enamul Hoque Shameem, Office Secretary Abdus Sobhan Golap, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Science and Technology affairs Secretary Abdus Sabur, Information and Research Affairs Secretary Afjal Hossain, Central Working Committee Members Anwar Hossain and Marufa Akhter Popi were present on the occasion.
Quader said all preparations are being taken to hold the party’s national council in time.
The AL General Secretary said “as per the party’s constitution, there is no alternative to holding the party’s council within the fixed time, so there is no scope to defer it.”
