Anti-corruption activists at a coordination meeting have laid emphasis on special allocations in the upcoming union parishad budgets for conducting anti-corruption campaigns to reduce corruption.
Mominpur union parishad in Rangpur organised the coordination meeting on ‘Allocation of Special Fund in Union Parishad Budget (2016-2017 Fiscal) for Conducting Anti-corruption Affairs Activities’ at its hall room yesterday.
RDRS Bangladesh extended assistance in arranging the meeting under Justice Reform &
Corruption Prevention (JRCP) Project being implemented with German Development Cooperation funding through the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs.
With former Chairman of Mominpur union Mahbub Alam Chowdhury in the chair, its incumbent Panel Chairman Sirajul Islam attended the meeting as the chief guest.
Vice-president of District Corruption Prevention Committee (CPC) Dr Nasima Akhter, its Member Advocate Zakia Sultana Choitee and Headmaster of a local high school Bhanudev Barman attended as special guests.
In his welcome speech, former Chairman of Mominpur union Mahbub Alam Chowdhury discussed on the anti-corruption activities and draft annual action plan on anti-corruption campaigns to be conducted in the union during the next fiscal year.
Dr Nasima Akhter narrated importance of special allocations in the upcoming union parishad budgets for conducting anti-corruption campaigns at grassroots levels to create public awareness about the negative impacts of corruption.
The chief guest said that special importance will be given on allocations of funds in the
upcoming budget of Mominur union parishad for the 2016-2017 fiscal for conducting anti-corruption activities in the union for building a corruption-free society.
