Alleged drug dealer killed in M’singh gunfight

An alleged drug dealer was killed in a gunfight with police at Mymensingh sadar upazila on Tuesday.
Deceased Bachchu was accused in 15 cases, said Ashiqur Rahman, Officer-in-Charge of district Detective Branch of police.
Hearing that a gang of drug peddlers gathered at Shambhuganj around 2:45am for sharing money, a team of Detective Branch of police raided the spot, said Ashiqur Rahman.
Sensing the presence of police, the suspected drug peddlers hurled brick chips on them and later opened fire, forcing the law enforcers to fire back in self-defense, triggering the gunfight, he demanded.
The gunfight left Bachchu injured. He was sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital (MMCH) where the doctors declared him dead.
Police recovered 200 pieces of Yaba tablets and four bullet shells from the spot, the police officer added.
Two cops were also injured in the ‘gunfight’, he said.
