The Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka on Sunday placed Abdus Sabur, who was arrested from Tongi on Saturday in connection with the murder of publisher Faisal Arefin Dipon and murder attempt on blogger Ahmedur Rashid Tutul, on a six-day remand.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Kaisarul Islam of the court passed the order after Detective Branch (DB)
Inspector Bahauddin Farooki produced Sabur in the court with a ten-day remand plea.
Detectives arrested Abdus Sabur alias Raju alias Saad alias Samad alias Sujon from Tongi Railway Station in Gazipur on Saturday. Based upon the confessional statement of Sumon Hossain, another accused in the case, who was arrested on June 16, DB Police conducted a drive and arrested Sabur.
On October 31, last year, two blogger publishers namely Ahmedur Rashid Tutul and Faisal Arefin Dipon were hacked brutally in two separate attacks.
Afterwards, Faisal Arefin Dipon, owner of Jagriti Publications, succumbed to his injuries at Dhaka Medical College Hospital, but Ahmedur Rashid Tutul, owner of Shuddhashwar, survived the attack.
