Bhangura (Pabna) Correspondent :
It has been alleged that there is an attempt to grab the property worth Tk. 12 crore belonging to the Bhangura Upazila Central Co-operative Multipurpose Society Ltd’ in Pabna district . The president of the society Md Aktar Hossain has made a written application to the joint registrar of Rajshahi division to protect the property.
Aktar Hossain said, the society has 0.5900 acre land in the heart of Bhangura market. There is an old godown with two storied buildings. The current price of which is 12 crore taka. Earlier there was Co-operative Bank here. After the closure of the bank, the building was rented for use as temporary office of Bhangura Police Station since 1986.
The premises and building of the society were vacated by the police last May after the construction of a new police station complex building in Bhangura. Then an influential faction tried to break the lock of the main gate and take over the building and the place. They replaced a photo of Bangabandhu in the inner room of the two-storied building of the Co-operative Multipurpose Society. Akhtar Hossain said that the picture was later removed.
Since this incident, there have been fears of forcible occupation of the society’s premises and buildings. For this, an application has been made to the higher authorities on behalf of the society seeking administrative assistance.
Upazila Cooperative Officer Rafiqul Islam said that this is the property purchased by The Bhangura Central Cooperative Multipurpose Society Ltd. The rent has been paid upto 1428 Bangla year including Namjari in the name of the society. So the society is the legal owner of this property.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer Mohammad Nahid Hasan Khan said, he has received a copy of an application signed by the society’s president Aktar Hossain to protect the property. Accordingly, they are ready to provide administrative support.
