The leaders of the Bangladesh Dokan Malik Samity , Chittagong chapter as well as central leaders of BDMS strongly refuted the protests of the self-declared convenor of Chittagong committee of the Association that published on August 30 last in a local newspaper by a counter protest which published on September 6 last in local daily.
The elected President and the Senior Vice President of the present committee Alhaj Saleh Ahmed Suleman and Haji Md.Shahabuddin respectively told this reporter that the biennial election of the Chittagong unit of BDMS was held on August 14 , 2016 at a city community centre constitutionally.
The installation of newly elected office bearers of the new committee followed by election was witnessed by CityMayor AJM Nasiruddin as chief guest . City Lawmaker MA Latif MP, Vice President of FBCCI & President Chittagong chamber of commerce & Industry Mahbubul Alam graced the election function as special guests.Editor of Dainik Bir Mancha Md. Omar Faruk, CCCI Director Wahid SirajSwapan, councilor Shaibal Das Sumon were also present on the occasion.
The election result of the incumbent committee was published in different local dailies on August 16, 2016. Sources said later on May 4 last, the newly elected office bearers of Chittagong chapter exchanged views with the Chairman of the central committee Md. Helaluddin at a city hotel.
President of the BDMS , Chittagong chapter told this reporter that the newly elected committee for the session 2016-18 was accordingly approved by the central committee President immediate after election and hence there is no question of existence of Convening committee after one year of the transparent election.He further said if anybody claims himself as Convenor is totally unjustified and unconstitutional aimed at undermining the elected committee rather to confuse the federating members of BDMS, Chittagong chapter.
In the meantime, incumbent President, sr. vice president were also felicitated by the BDMS of being elected as Vice chairman and the Joint secretary of the BDMS central committee.
Besides, the newly elected President Alhaj Saleh Ahmed Suleman also deposited membership fees to Central committee under his signature as president on 13 May last.
