Abdul Muqit Chowdhury :
The Holy Quran says : Allah is the Most Gracious (Sura Furqan 25:7). He is the Most Merciful (Sura Al-Imran 3: 92). He is ever Merciful to the Muslims. (Sura Baqara 2:267) Allah’s mercy embraces all things.
(Sura Ahzab 33 : 56). The mercy of Allah is also close to those who do good (Sura Tawbah 9:43) And we pray to Allah : Our Lord, grant us Your mercy. (Sura Qalam 68:4).
The 1st phase of Rahmat (Mercy) includes the first ten days of Ramzan. Mercy of Allah is unlimited. He has given us the chance to repent and return to His grace. But as we are not duly responsive to the call of repentance, we fail to avail Allah’s mercy and forgiveness.
The Holy Quran says : “Say O my servants, who have transgressed against their souls! Despair not of the mercy of Allah ; for Allah forgives all sins; for He is oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful.” (39:53)
Hazrat Abdullah Ibne Masud (Ra) narrated : The Messenger of Allah said, “In every night of Ramzan a proclaimer on behalf of Allah goes on proclaiming, O searcher of welfare, come forward and, O searcher of evils, go back and after this the angel says, is there any repentant, whose repentance will be accepted? Is there any seeker, whose things of seeking will be given? This proclaiming continues through every night.”
As human being we are likely to commit error and sin. We need opportunity to repent and reform. The month of Ramzan gives us the chance to rectify and surrender to the Will of Allah. By doing so we could surely change our position in the Supreme Judgement of Allah.
The Muslims should keep themselves above all prohibited activities, repent for past misdeeds, beg Allah’s mercy and strive to live according to the directions of the Holy Quran and Sunnah. It should be borne in mind that this is the best period of the year to beg mercy of the Lord of the universe who is ‘oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful’.
Rasulullah (Sm) in a sermon said, “….Do repent to Allah for your sins, and supplicate with your hands raised at the times of prayer ; as these are the best of times, during which Allah looks at His servants with Mercy, (He) answers if they supplicate, responds if they call, grants if they ask and accepts if they entreat…..”
So, we should realise our mistakes committed before, raise our hands repenting for our sins and seek Allah’s mercy. Allah’s mercy prevails over all our sins.
