Abdul Muqit Chowdhury :
Hazrat Muhammad (Sm) said, “That person is wise, who is conscious about his ‘being’ and knows it; and who always tries to gain the salvation for the next world.”
Holy Ramzan is the golden period of acquiring virtues by virtuous deeds. In this time, observance of a ‘Farz’ (obligatory worship) is equal to 70 obligatory worships and observance of a ‘Nafl’ (voluntary act of religion)
is equal to a ‘Farz’, according to the Hadith. ‘Wise’ people, as referred, know this world as transitory and the next world as eternal, and observe fasting including all worships and rituals in this month to earn the peace of eternal life. They dedicate themselves to remembrance of Allah, prayers, recitation of the Holy Quran, entertaining people with Iftary, paying Jakat, conducting charitable activities and so on. It is wise to act according to Hadith and follow the footsteps of the ‘wise’ among us.
Hazrat Kab bin Uzra (Ra) narrated a Hadith : He said, ” …. Rasulullah (Sm) said, just now, Zibril came and said, ruin be to that person, who met the month of Ramzan, but could not be forgiven of sins …. ” (Mustadrake Hakem). This indicates the innumerable Mercy of Allah in this month. Hazrat Ibne Masud (Ra) narrated a Hadith: He said, “In every night of Ramzan, an angel goes on proclaiming : Oh searcher of many virtues, proceed; Oh sinner, halt, open your eyes.” That angel again says, “Those who pray for forgiveness, will be forgiven; the repentance of repentant will be accepted.”
The Holy Hadith recognises this month as ‘the month of Ummat.’ Rasulullah (Sm) said, “Rajab is the month of Allah, Shaban is my month and Ramzan is the month of my Ummat.” Hazrat Umama al Baheli (Ra) narrated a Hadith : He said, “Once I asked Muhammadur Rasulullah (Sm): Tell me about such an Ibadat (worship), by performing which I can gain in this world and also achieve Zannat in the hereafter. In reply, Rasulullah (Sm) said, observe fasting. There is no worship like fasting.” (Sunane Nasayee)
Fasting is very important and significant, because it raises a spiritual revolution in the ‘self’ to abstain from activities, prohibited by Islam. Rasulullah (Sm) said, “As a child is born (without any sin) from its mother’s womb, so also the month of Ramzan frees the rozadar from all sins.”
The days of Mercy, the fast ten days of Ramzan has been over. From today, the 11th Ramzan, begins– the second phase of ten days of Ramzan, called ‘Maghfirat’ (forgiveness). Allah forgives. We pray to Allah to accept our fasting and forgive our sins.
