The government has undertaken a plan to set up a technical school in every upazila across the country for turning the backward people into a skilled manpower.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid said this in the Jatiya Sangsad Monday while replying to a tabled question from the opposition bench member AKM Maidul Islam.
The minister said, in the first phase of the plan, the government is implementing a project to set up the technical schools at 100 upazilas.
The minister informed the House that a development project proposal for setting up the schools in 387 upazilas in the second phase is under review of the education ministry.
Ulipur upazila of Kurigram district would be included in the second phase plan, he added.
