The District Administration and City and District Units of Awami League have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day to be held on Thursday.
The national flags will be hoisted atop of all public and private buildings and the people from all walks of life will place wreathes at Bangabandhu sculpture here on the occasion.
Special prayers will be offered at mosques, temples, churches and other religious institutions, seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu.
Improved diet will be served at all hospitals, orphanage centers and jail to mark the day.
State-run Khulna Betar will broadcast special programmes while the local newspapers will bring out special supplements on the occasion.
Roads will be decorated with colourful banners and festoons which will give the city a festive look.
Discussion will be held in the morning at Khulna Shilpakola Academy followed by a cultural programme along with children abiding by health rules.
Local administration will held separate programmes at Bangabandhu’s memorial places while essay and art competition for the children will be arranged there.
BSS from Rangpur reports: Rangpur people are ready with huge enthusiasm to celebrate the 102nd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the National Children’s Day-2022 through weeklong programmes from on Thursday. Celebration of the 102nd birth anniversary of Bangabandhu bears a special significance this year in the extended ‘Mujib Barsho’ which began from the centenary birth anniversary of Bangabandhu till March 31 this year.
The district administration, Awami League (AL), Rangpur City Corporation, different institutions and organisations have completed all preparations to celebrate the 102nd birth centenary of Bangabandhu through weeklong colorful programmes.
Officials in the district administration said tight security measures would be ensured in celebrating the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu and steps be taken to inspire everyone in abiding by the health directives in the wake of the Covid-19 pandemic.
The celebration will begin with placing of wreaths at the mural of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman at Bangabandhu Square near the DC Mour.
The divisional and district level high-ranking government officials and Mayor of Rangpur will place wreaths at the mural of Bangabandhu at 9 am followed by giving a guard of honour there by a smart contingent of police forces.
Special steps will be taken to enable children to place wreath at the mural of Bangabandhu separately in a hassle-free manner.
One-hundred and two children will render the national anthem with hoisting of the national flag at the Central Shaheed Minar premises in the city at 11 am on March 17.

The programmes include hoisting national flags atop of all government and non-government offices, educational intuitions, placing wreath at the
Bangabandhu Mural at Circuit House Ground, painting, quiz and essay competitions, special prayers, Milad and Doa Mahfil seeking eternal peace of the departed soul of Bangabandhu.
A discussion, prize giving and cultural function will also be held at Circuit House ground while documentary films on the life of Bangabandhu and liberation war will be screened at different places and corners of the city corporation areas.
The week long Muktir Utsab and Golden Jubilee Mela will be arranged on observance of the day.
The roads of the city corporation will be decorated with colourful lights, banners and festoons.
The City Corporation and Awami League have taken separate programmes on bservance of the Day.
