All set to observe Bangabandhu’s birth anniversary in dists

All preparations have been completed to observe the 97th birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children Day-2016 in a befitting manner here on March 17 next.
Sylhet district and upazila administrations, Awami League (AL), its front organisations, Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Shilpokola Academy, SUST, Metropoliton, Leading University, educational institutions and other organisations have chalked out elaborate programmes.
The programmes include placing of floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu, children’s gatherings and rallies, processions of unprivileged children, drawing, handwriting, essay and ready speech competitions, discussions and cultural functions.
The local news papers will publish special supplementary issues marking the day, special munajats will be offered at the religious institutions and improved diets be served among the unprivileged children.
The observance of the Day will begin in the morning through placing wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu at the Central Shaheed Minar by Divisional Commissioner Jamal Uddin Ahmed and Deputy Commissioner Joynal Abedin.
Later, senior leaders of AL, its front organisations, Muktijoddha Sangsad, officials of government departments, NGOs, sociocultural and political organisations, professional and business bodies, heads of the educational institutions will place floral wreaths.
Jamal Uddin Ahmed will attend the main discussion to be organised by the district administration at Town Hall auditorium as the chief guest with Deputy Commissioner in the chair.
Valiant freedom fighters, children, students, government officials, academicians and researchers, heads of educational institutions, leaders of AL and its front organisations, sociocultural and political activists, artists and professionals will be present.
Besides, the birth anniversary of Bangabandhu will also be observed through similar daylong programmes and discussions at other educational institutions in the Sylhet city.

BSS from Faridpur adds: The 97th birthday of the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children’s Day will be observed here on Thursday (March17) in a befitting manner as elsewhere across the country.
The programme was earlier chalked out in a meeting held in the conference room of DC, chaired by Deputy Commissioner Sardar Sharafat Ali.
The three day programme chalked out by the local district administration has began today through arranging mobile cinema show titled ‘Chiranjib'(Immortal) Bangabandhu at various points of the town and also in upazillas.
Tomorrow on March 16 recitations of poems on Bangabandhu, art and patriotic song, essay competitions will be held among the children at DC office premises organized by Shishu Academy.
On March 17 morning district administration, political parties, Awami League and its front organizations and various socio-cultural organizations will place floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu kept at local Ambica Maidan.
A centrally arranged milad mahfil will be held at Shah Farid Dargah mosque and special prayers will be offered at mosques, temples, Ramkrishna Mission and churches.
A voluntary blood donation camp has been organized at Ambica Memorial Hall.
In the evening a discussion meeting on the life and works of Bangabandhu will be held at local Kabi Jasimuddin Hall in the district. A number of sub-committees have been formed to make the three day programme successful.
