All set to observe Amar Ekushey

The Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) and the district administration have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day in a befitting manner on Saturday.
The programmes include placing of floral wreaths at Shaheed Minar, hoisting of national flags at half-mast atop all public and private buildings and probhat ferry (morning procession).
There will be miniature national flags and coloured flags inscribed with
Bengali alphabets in the city streets.
Qurankhwani and discussion at the Islamic Foundation office, art and literary competitions for school and college students at the Shishu Academy, and screening of documentary films on the Language Movement are other programmes of the day.
BSS from Rangpur says: All necessary preparations have been completed to observe the Amar Ekushey and International Mother Language Day-2015 in a befitting manner here on February 21 (Saturday) next, official sources said.
The district administration, different sociocultural and professional organisations, political parties, private bodies, educational and other institutions have chalked out elaborate programmes to observe the Day with due solemnity.
The day’s programmes will begin at one minute past midnight on February 21 when Mayor of Rangpur City Corporation Alhaj Sarfuddin Ahmed Jhantu and Divisional Commissioner Muhammad Dilwar Bakht and Acting Deputy Inspector General of Rangpur Range of Bangladesh Police Humayun Kabir will place floral wreaths at the central Shaheed Miner to pay due respects to the Martyrs of Language Movement.
Deputy Commissioner Farid Ahammad and Police Super Abdur Razzaque along with high officials of district and police administrations will also place wreaths there to be followed by the other government and non-government departments and organisations.

Deputy Commissioner Md Shohidul Islam and Police Super Nure Alam Mina along with high officials of district and police administrations will also place wreaths there to be followed by the other government and non-government departments and organisations.
The programmes also include hoisting of the national flag at half-mast atop all government, semi-government, private, commercial buildings and educational institutions, ‘probhat ferries’, decoration of the streets with miniature national flag and coloured flags inscribed with Bengali alphabets.
BSS from Faridpur adds: The International Mothers Language Day and Language Martyrs Day will be observed in Faridpur in a befitting manner on February 21.
A three-day programme was chalked out earlier in a meeting held at the conference room of Deputy Commissioner (DC). The meeting presided over by DC Sardar Sharafat Ali was attended by various cross section of people including elite, educationists, cultural activists and officials.
According to the chalked out programme, government, semi-government
offices, institutions, political parties and socio-cultural organizations will place floral wreaths at the district level central Shaheed Minar located at Ambica Memorial Hall at midnight of February 20. National flags will fly half-mast on all buildings at the advent of the dawn.
