All set to celebrate Amar Ekushe

Stage is all set to celebrate the glorious International Mother Language Day in a befitting manner in the city today.
Hundreds of organizations and individuals have been taking preparations to pay homage from Thursday midnight to the memory of the Language Martyrs who made supreme sacrifices to establish the rightful place of the mother tongue in 1952 and inspired the nation to launch an all out struggle for an independent Bangladesh.
Different political parties including Bangladesh Awami League and its different front organizations, BNP, Jatiya Party,Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal, CPB, NAP, Sammyabadi Dal have finalized their programmes to observe the day.
The programmes include placing wreaths at Shaheed Minar,discussion meeting, silent procession in the morning with bare foot, cultural function and photo exhibition. Chittagong district administration has chalked out elaborate programmes in conformity with the national schedule on this occasion. The programme was finalized at a meeting held last week with Deputy Commissioner Abdul Mannan in the chair at the conference room of DC. A management sub-committee was formed at the meeting to organize the programmes smoothly. An Additional Deputy Commissioner has been made convenor of the sub-committee.
The programmes include hand writing, drawing and singing of patriotic songs competitions for children at Shishu Academy on Thursday, discussion meeting, children gathering at Mukta Mancha,cultural function and prize distribution among children, decoration of important road islands with colourful festoons inscribed with Bengali alphabets and hoisting of the national flags at half mast.
