An all-round performance by Suhrawardi Shuvo enabled Rangpur Division to record an emphatic 10-wicket victory over Chittagong Division in the four-day National Cricket League (NCL) held on Friday at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Batting first Rangpur posted 450, rode on Shuvo’s magnificent 121-run helped them to recover from 190 for 6 on the first day. He added 102 for the seventh wicket with Ariful Haque, who contributed useful 52 and another 130 for the eighth wicket with Alauddin Babu, who scored 64 runs. Shuvo contributed 121 off 204 balls with 14 boundaries.
After shine with bat, Shuvo then captured three wickets to help Rangpur bowl out Chittagong for 182 in the first innings. Seamer Mohammad Saddam also bagged three wickets while offspinner Mahmudul Hasan claimed two wickets.
Rangpur enforced the follow-on, after which Chittagong made 297 in the second innings, leaving Rangpur with just 30 to win. Seamer Ariful captured four wickets while Babu and Shuvo took two each. Yasir Ali was the only notable scorer for Chittagong who scored their only 50 of the match, an 86-ball 58.
Rangpur took just 5.2 overs to sealed the victory.
