An all round performance by Pakistan saw them to record an overwhelming six-wicket victory over New Zealand in the warm-up match held on Monday at the Sher- e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium at Mirpur in the city.
Chasing New Zealand 145 runs, Pakistan reached home making 149 in 19.5 overs for the loss of four wickets.
Pakistani skipper Mohammad Hafeez played an impressive innings off 55 runs off 39 balls smacking five boundaries and three over boundary while opener Kamran Akmal hit a brilliant 52 runs off 54-balls with the help of six boundaries and two over boundaries.
Nathan McCullum was the most successful bowler for the Kiwis picking up two wickets for 21 runs.
Earlier, a super bowling performance by Pakistani bowlers restricted New Zealand at a paltry total of 145 for 9 from their allotted 20 overs, after the Kiwis opted to bat first.
The New Zealand skipper smashed 59 runs off 43-ball hitting four over boundaries and three boundaries to take the team total to a near 150 land mark, after the Kiwis faced initial batting jolt losing their top orders early in the face of tight bowling attacks by the Pakistani bowlers.
Umar Gul was the pick of Pakistani bowler taking three wickets for 16 runs. He was well supported by Mohammad Talha who bagged two wickets giving away 22 runs.
