Tajul Islam, MP, Convener of the Parliamentary Standing Sub-committee on Planning Ministry, on Thursday said all proposed flyovers as well as under-construction ones in Chittagong should have all kinds of rational facilities for better welfare of people.
“The development of Chittagong means the development of Bangladesh. We consider Chittagong as the center of development of Bangladesh. So we want to construct the flyovers in a logical and rapid way”, Tajul Islam added.
He said this while presiding over a meeting of the Sub-committee held at Chittagong Development Authority (CDA) conference room on Thursday afternoon.
Addressing the meeting, Tajul Islam said the government would remain careful so that all logical facilities are included in structural plan of flyovers in the country.
Members of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Planning Ministry Samshul Haque Chowdhury and Muhibur Rahman Manik, CDA Chairman Abdus Salam, former Vice Chancellor of Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology (CUET) Dr Mohammad Jahangir Alam and secretary of Chittagong south district Awami League Mofizur Rahman, among others, attended the meeting.
Later, a delegation of the subcommittee led by Tajul Islam visited the construction site of Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Flyover from Muradpur to WASA, Bahaddarhat flyover and Kadamtali flyover in Chittagong.
Expressing satisfaction over the construction work, the team of the sub-committee said the construction of Akhtaruzzaman Chowdhury Flyover will be completed by December next, six months ahead of the scheduled time. The Flyover is expected to be inaugurated within by June next year.
