All five MDs of Barapukuria summoned by ACC

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned five Managing Directors (MDs) and three former General Managers (GMs) of Barapukuria Coal Mining Company (BCMCL) of Dinajpur in connection with the coal scam for interrogation.
The ACC has asked them to be present at ACC’s head office on Monday and Tuesday, ACC Public Relations Officer Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya said it on Sunday.
Former MDs Sirajul Islam Chowdhury and Md. Mahbubur Rahman and two former GMs Mir Abdul Motin (Minning) and Saiful Islam (Operation) have been summoned for interrogation on Monday.
The company’s former MDs Khurshidul Hasan, Kamruzzaman, Aminuzzaman and former GM (Mining) Md. Mizanur Rahman have been summoned for interrogation on Tuesday.
Earlier on July 24, the company’s manager (administration) Mohammad Anisur Rahman filed a case against 19 people including Managing Director of BCMCL with Parbatipur Model Police Station in Dinajpur on July 24. The ACC’s Deputy Director Shamsul Alam is investigating the case.
Barapukuria several thermal power plants having 525 MW power generation capacity have remained closed since July 22 due to the coal crisis.
