Entertainment Report :
After six months of inactivity, cinema halls across the country will finally reopen on October 16. Information Minister Hasan Mahmud announced the decision at a meeting between the Information Ministry and Bangladesh Film Distributors’ Association on September 21.
The Association’s former advisor, Mia Alauddin, confirmed the news. “We are preparing to open the cinema halls, adhering to all health regulations,” he said.
According to Alauddin, cinema halls will only be able to operate at half the capacity for the time being.
Also present at the meeting were Film Distributors’ Association’s former chief advisors Sudipto Kumar Das and Sharfuddin Elahi. After the pandemic situation worsened in Bangladesh, all cinema halls were closed down from March 18. Even though film shootings had slowly started, uncertainty reigned regarding the opening of cinema halls until yesterday. The halt in activities also resulted in schedule complications for many upcoming films.
