Social Welfare Minister Nuruzzaman Ahmed on Sunday said that hundred percent of the beneficiaries will get the allowance through mobile banking by June this year.
“In order to ensure that not a single beneficiary is left out, the digitization of allowance activities and opening of mobile banking accounts is underway despite the ongoing restrictions during the Corona epidemic,” he said.
The minister was speaking as the chief guest at a function at his residence in city’s Minto Road’s area to distribute laptops and printers to field level social service offices in all districts and upazilas across the country under the Cash Transfer Modernization (CTM) project implemented by the Department of Social Services.
Director General of the Social Services Department Sheikh Rafiqul Islam, Project Director (Additional Secretary) Khurshid Alam Chowdhury and other senior officials of the ministry and the department were present on the occasion.
“The digital revolution is going on in the country under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, internet facilities have reached most of the people in the country,” said the minister.
“Service delivery would be more dynamic by providing modern computer equipment in 634 social service offices at district and upazila level,” he added.
Addressing the officials at all levels, the minister said, “Mobile banking through ‘Government to person’ (GTP) system would be implemented cent percent within the current financial year at any cost to distribute allowances to the beneficiaries through following the directive of the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s directive.”
The minister directed the concerned to be vigilant so that no fake or dual beneficiary gets the allowance.
