Staff Reporter :
The tenure of all the bail and ad-interim orders has been extended for another four weeks because of the ongoing Covid-19 situation.
Md Ali Akbar, Registrar General of the Supreme Court, on Sunday issued a notification to this effect under the directive from Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain.
The tenure of the court orders that granted bail to accused for a specific period and the High Court orders that granted ad-interim bail to accused on condition of their surrender to the lower courts concerned and the ad-interim court orders issued in connection with the cases have been extended for the next four weeks, the notification said.
Following the Covid situation, the Supreme Court authorities on April 4 this year issued a similar notification to this effect extending the validity of bail and other ad-interim orders for two weeks. Later it was extended a few more times.
The Chief Justice has recently decided to administer court functions across the country on a limited scale in order to prevent the surge of Covid-19 pandemic.
