Fire breaks out at a Hajj flight (SV 811) of Saudia Airlines at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport. 313 pilgrims were on the flight did not suffer any harm.
Khalilur Rahman Patwari said that the SV-811 Flight APU-Oxyelite Power Unit of Saudia Airlines’s was set on fire at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport a few minutes before the take off of the plane carrying 313 pilgrims. But in spite of the possibility of major accidents, Allah saved us.
According to the airport sources, the Boeing 777-200 aircraft of Saudi Airlines, with 313 pilgrims, started its journey towards the runway for flying 11.15 minutes from the Boarding Bridge. An employee of the Regent Airways saw the smoke comine out from the backside of the plane. He informed this to this in the control tower.
When told to the Saudi Airlines pilot from the airport control tower, he stopped the aircraft engines there. Later, an emergency was announced at the airport and the fire service staff of the airport was present there. Later the plane was pulled by a push cart and removed from the runway.
The flight leaves Dhaka at 1:45 pm instead of 11am on Tuesday.
Biman spokesman Shakil Meraaj said, I heard that such an accident happened. But the pilgrims are safe.
Saudia Airlines’s Hajj flight started from July 24 to August 28. Pilgrims will return to Bangladesh 6 September after after completing Hajj. Flight will end on 6th October. Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Saudia Airlines are carrying hajj pilgrims from Bangladesh.
