The family members of assaulted ruling Awami League leader and a freedom fighter in Sailkupa Upazila in Jhenaidah were panicked when all the 10 accused in the assault case were released on bail from the court, said the family members.
Sumna Mridha, an lawyer and the son of Mokter Hossain Mridha said, his father was staying in-front of a medicine shop adjacent to Sailupa upazila health complex in the evening of October 18. Suddenly a gang of young men belongs to Juba League and Chhatra League with sharp and lethal weapons swooped on him.
As Morshed Mridha, another son of Mokter tried to save his father, the attackers also started beating up him. Both sustained severe injuries rushed to nearby upazila health complex at Sailkauapa. They were referred to Jhenaidah General Hospital from where they were once again referred to a private hospital in Dhaka where they undergo surgery.
The attackers were Juba League and Chhatra League leaders, belongs to the lawmaker of Jhenaidah1 constituency, also the president of Jhenaidfah district AL Abdul Hyee and the upazila parishad chairman, also the president of Sailkupa Upazila AL Mosharraf Hossain Sona Sikder.
Mokter was attacked following a tender work of the Local Government Engineering Department at Sailkupa in Jhenaidah.
