Celebrated Indian filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s much anticipated forthcoming feature film Gangubai Kathiawadi is set to release on February 25.
The film, starring Alia Bhatt, is inspired by the life of Gangubai Kothewali, known as the ‘madam’ of a red-light area in Mumbai’s Kamathipura.
Alia Bhatt will be portraying the role of Gangubai, considered as one of the most powerful, loved and respected madams during the 1960s. The plot of the film is based on the book Mafia Queens of Mumbai, authored by Hussain Zaidi.
It is reported that earlier the film was scheduled to release on February 18.
