Alba injury problem for Barca, Spain

FC Barcelona is likely to be without Spain international left back Jordi Alba for a while after he was forced out of Sunday’s 1-1 draw at home to Sevilla with a hamstring injury. Alba had to limp off in the 74th minute and was replaced by new signing Sergino Dest, who played on the left of the Barca defense, despite being right-footed. Barca issued a communique shortly after the final whistle confirming Alba had “problems in his right hamstring,” adding that he would undergo tests on Monday to discover the full extent of the injury. The injury means that Alba will be forced to pull out of the Spanish national team squad for the forthcoming friendly game in Portugal and the UEFA Nations League ties against Switzerland and Ukraine.
