Popular music director Alauddin Ali, who is diagnosed with cancer, will be taken to Thailand for advanced treatment. He will be admitted to Bangkok’s Sukhumvit Hospital today according to family members.
Ali’s wife Farzana Ali Mimi, and daughter Adrita Rajkonna will accompany him to Thailand. Mimi recently told the press that Ali had been diagnosed with cancer since 2015. He was taken to Bangkok for treatment before but the cancer has recently returned to his body.
She also said: “Please pray for my husband so he can return to music again.”
They will return to Dhaka after his treatment, according to Mimi.
Ali, 67, had been admitted to a local hospital since the start of this year. He had a major cardiac arrest in January, and has since been admitted in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
Alauddin Ali won the Bangladesh National Film Award for Best Music Director five times for the films Golapi Ekhon Traine (1978), Sundori (1979), Koshai (1980), Jogajog (1988) and Lakhe Ekta (1990).
He won the Best Music Composer, and Best Lyricists awards for the films Laal Doriya (2002), and Premik (1985) respectively.
He has directed music for more than 300 films in his career.
