Alarming rise of rape incidents in country

Rape incidents have increased in an alarming rate across the country creating much concern among the people, especially the guardians.
At least 15 rape incidents have occurred in several districts during the last three days, according to media reports.
In Savar, police arrested at least six persons from Toiobpur area on charge of gang rape of a young woman on Tuesday.
 Convicts were identified as Akbar Hossain, 23, Shanto, 21, Mahid, 23, Imran, 20, Robin, 24, and Ajimuddin Mollah, 23.
The victim filed a case with Ashulia Police Station accusing three persons who violated her at one Shanto’s house in Toiobpur area at night after taking her there with a job promise.
Among them, Akbar, Shanto, Mahid and Imran detained on charge of violating the woemen while two others on charge of abetting them.
Mohammad Ziaul Islam, Inspector of the Police Station, confirmed the matter.
In Dinajpu, police arrested a youth from Birampur upazila of on charge abetting of rape of a girl on Monday night.
The detainee was identified as Masum Rana.
Local sources said, Ataur Rahman Saddam, 25, of Shoilan village in the upazila, had developed an affair with a college girl through mobile phone.
Ataur tactfully took the girl to his nephew’s house in Birampur Adarshapara on October 24 and violated the girl with a false promise of marriage.
Officer in-Charge of Birampur Police Moniruzzaman confirmed the matter.
In Patuakhali, a RMG worker was allegedly raped in Sadar upazila of on Monday after a relative called her out of house. Kohinoor Begum, sister-in-law of the victim, called the girl at her house in Uttar Badura village at about 11.00am, said victim’s family.
When the girl entered Kohinoor’s house, her co-villagers Isa, 19, and Kawser, 20, who were hiding there, violated her and recorded the act in mobile phone set, they alleged. Police, however, detained two persons in this connection.
Patuakhali Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mostafizur Rahman confirmed the matter.
In Madaripur, law enforcers arrested a staff of a Madrasa on charge of rape of a girl on Monday afternoon.
The convict was identified as Sahadath Hossain, Managaer of a local Mohila Madrasa.

In Bhola, police arrested a former leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) over gang rape of a housewife at Char Piyal in Monpura upazila of the district.
The detainee is Nazrul Islam, 30, the former president of Chhatra League’s Dakkhin Sakuchia Union unit. He was arrested from Sakuchia area of the upazila on Monday.
Sakhawat Hossain, Officer-in-Charge of Manpura Police Station, confirmed the matter.
