Fazlul Haque was the pioneer of film journalism in the country and was the editor of the first film magazine Cinema. He was director of the first children’s film President. On his death anniversary on October 26, the 17th ‘Fazlul Haque Memorial Award’ was given at Channel i Studio on Monday.
This year’s award went to noted film actor and director MA Alamgir and film journalist Shamim Alam Dipen. The prize money was Tk 25,000 each, a letter of appreciation and a crest. Rabeya Khatun, a renowned storyteller, introduced the award in 2004 in memory of late Fazlul Haque.
Alamgir and Dipen received the awards from noted filmmaker Syed Salauddin Zaki, noted lyricist Gazi Mazharul Anwar and and theatre activist Nasir Uddin Yousuff in the programme.
Noted film personality Shafiuzzaman Khan Lodi, Ananda Alo Editor Rezanur Rahman, former Priyojon editor Abdur Rahman, among others, recalled memories of Fazlul Haque on the occasion.
