Alal rushed to DMCH following chest pain under police custody

A Dhaka court yesterday placed Juba Dal President Syed Moazzem Hossain Alal on a three-day remand in a case filed for obstructing police and vandalism during clash in Bakshibazar area of the city on Wednesday.
Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Ali Masud Sheikh of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court of Dhaka passed the order after hearing on Sunday afternoon. Meanwhile, Moazzem Hossain Alal was rushed to the emergency unit of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital at around 8.30 pm as he felt sick under the police custody at Chowkbazar Police Station. He was taken to the police station at about 5.30 pm on Sunday.
Azizul Haque, Officer-in-Charge of the police station told newsmen that Jubo Dal leader Alal fell ill during police custody at the police station. He complained of pain in his chest, the OC added. Besides, physician Reshma Akhter of the emergency unit in the hospital said the New Nation, “He (Alal) in suffering from pain in his chest and he was sent to the cardiology for ECG.”
Earlier in the day, Investigation Officer (IO) of the case and Chawkbazar Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Ilias Ali produced Alal to the court with a 10-day remand plea. Chawkbazar Police Station Sub-Inspector Delwar Hossain had filed the case against 76 people, and Jubo Dal leader Alal is a suspect in the case. Police arrested Alal from his Lalmatia residence in the capital around 11:15 pm on Saturday.
BNP leaders and activists allegedly clashed with Chhatra League activists near Bakshibazar makeshift court before BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s arrived on the court premises in connection with two corruption cases on Wednesday.
At least 30 people, including AL MP Chhabi Biswas, were allegedly injured in the clash. Miscreants torched the MP’s car parked in front of the Dhaka Medical College and Hospital.
