Awami League candidates having Boat symbol in three upazilas in Narayanganj got landslide victory on Sunday.
Voting for the post of Chairman, Vice Chairman and Women Vice Chairman of the upazila council continued from 8 am to 4pm .
According to unofficial result, Shahjahan Bhuiyan in Rupganj, Mujahideen Rahman Helo in Araihazar and Mosharraf Hossain of Sonargaon have been elected upazila parishad chairmen respectively .
Sonargaon is comprising with 10 union and one municipal and its total voter number is 3 lakh 8 thousand 71 . Mosharraf Hossain was elected by 73 thousand 38 votes. Her opponent candidate Mahfuzur Rahman Kalam got 45, 659 votes. Mosharraf Hossain’s boat symbol won by 27379 votes.
Mujahideen Rahman Helo of the boat symbol got 80 thousand 558 votes in Araihazar upazila . Iqbal Hossain Molla got 7,888 votes against the rival pineapple symbol. And Azad Khan got 1220 votes .
There are two thousand 83 thousand 867 voters in 113 polling centers of two municipalities and 10 unions at Araihazar upazila. Out of which, 1,44,122 male and 1 lakh 39 thousand 745 are female .
In Rupganj Upazila Parishad elections, Awami League nominated boat candidate Alhaj Shahjahan Bhuiyan won for the third time.
Awami League nominated candidate Shahjahan Bhuiyan won with a total of 82,278 votes. The nearest contestant, Independent candidate Tabibul Kadir Tamal( Pineapple) got 8,995 votes.
