The ruling party Awami League (AL) will start issuing show-cause notices to around 150 rebel candidates, who contested in last upazila polls against party-nominated candidates from Sunday.
The list of the show-caused leaders will include central to local-level leaders and no mercy will be shown to anyone in the interest of the organizational discipline, said the party General Secretary and Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader at a press conference in the AL President Sheikh Hasina’s political office in the city’s Dhanmondi area on Saturday.
He said, “Earlier, the decision of sending show-cause notices to the upazila polls rebel candidates was taken. We have discussed the process of sending the letters.”
He said, “Those, who contested in last upazila polls violated party decision, will be asked to reply the notices within the next three weeks.”
The ruling party ministers and MPs, who supported the rebel candidates, will also be show-caused.
However, Obaidul Quader prevented from disclosing the names of those ministers and MPs.
Even, the party warned of cancelling party membership of them in the case of working against party decision.
