AL to bring out colourful procession on Pahela Baishakh

Awami League city unit will celebrate the Pahela Baishakh, the first day of the Bangla New Year 1421, with colorful festivities.
The city Awami League has decided to bring out a colourful mass procession in the capital city to protest the recent falsehood and distortion of the country’s history by the BNP-Jamaat clique.
General Secretary of Awami League (AL) City unit Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, Bir Bikram announced the programme at an extended meeting at its central office at Bangabandhu Avenue on Saturday.
Chaired by acting president MA Aziz, the meeting was also addressed, among others, by vice presidents Faiz Uddin Miah, Sheikh Bazlur Rahman and Mukul Chowdhury, joint general secretary and food minister Advocate Quamrul Islam and Organizing Secretary Shahe Alam Murad.
Maya, also disaster management and relief minister, said the Bengali cultural heritage and traditional procession will start from Bahadur Shah Park at 8 am and end at Awami League central party office.
It is a day of collective celebration in the country and has become an integral part of the Bengali cultural heritage and tradition over the years on April 14 every year. “The Baishakhi procession will be bring out, carrying colourful festoons, placards, banners, beating drums, bull cart and horse cart,” he said.
Ruling lawmakers, party leaders and workers from different thanas and wards, with colourful festoons, placards and banners will join the procession, Maya said.
He urged party leaders and workers to join the procession for making it successful.
