AL to accord mass reception to PM today

All preparations of the Awami League have already been completed to accord a rousing mass reception to its president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her return home on Friday.
She will be accorded the reception on her arrival at the Shahjajal International Airport at about 5-20 pm wrapping up her 2-week Britain, Canada and United
 State visit. During the visit she attended the fifth Replenishment Conference of Global Fund in Canada and the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in the United States. Party sources said leaders and workers of Awami League (AL), its associate and like minded bodies as well as a cross section of people will accord a colourful mass reception to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on her being decorated with the United Nations “Planet 50-50 Champion” and the “Agent of Change” awards for capable leadership in running the state and her multidimensional contributions to the country and its people.
Standing with national flag, banners, placards, portraits of Bangabandhu, Sheikh Hasina and Sajeeb Wazed Joy on either side of the street on her way to her official Ganobhaban residence at Sher-e-Banglanagar from the airport, hundreds of people from all strata will shower flowers, petals and raise full throated slogans hailing the Prime Minister’s accomplishments in the international arena.
Over the past 10 days or so, senior central leaders of Awami League including general secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, joint general secretary Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif and other leaders had a series of extended and joint preparatory meetings with Dhaka South City AL, Dhaka North City AL, Awami Juba League, Swechchasebak League, Jatiya Sramik League, Mahila Awami League, Juba Mahila League, Krishak League and Chhatra League and its other associate bodies to make the event a grand success. Besides, AL stalwarts also had meetings with district units around Dhaka and the party lawmakers in these districts for the purpose.
Meantime, in separate statements, Dhaka South City AL and Dhaka North City AL requested its thana, ward and union units and associate and likeminded bodies as well as party stalwarts and lawmakers to take positions at their designated places from Shahjalal International Airport to Ganobhaban in a disciplined and decent manner to make the reception a grand event. In a statement yesterday, AL general secretary and Minister for Public Administration Syed Ashraful Islam called upon the party units in particular and people from all walks of life in general to attend the reception on time.
Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina left Dhaka on September 14 on a 12-day visit to attend the 5th Replenishment Conference of Global Fund in Montreal, Canada and the 71st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City in the United States.
