Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Thursday said, the Awami League will accept the decision of Election Commission over using Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) in the upcoming national election.
“Many countries are now using EVMs in the elections for reducing cost and time of voting and counting. So, Awami League is in favour of using the machine in the next polls,” he said.
The minister disclosed the party decision while talking to reporters after visiting the ongoing BRT project on Dhaka-Mymensingh highway in Bhogra area.
Obaidul Quader said, befitting reply will be given if the BNP tries to create any anarchy in the country in the name of national unity and movement.
BNP never succeeded in any political movement in last four years, he said adding that people fear BNP because of its anarchic approach.
During the visit, the minister demanded explanations from Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project Director Sanaul Haque and project director (BBA part) Liakat Ali for negligence in duty.
Superintendent of Gazipur Police Samsunnahar and Engineer Sabuj Uddin Khan were present.
