Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Tuesday said Awami League is still surviving for the sacrifices of leaders like Nurul Islam and MA Aziz, and asked the party activists to learn from their lives.
“Awami League has created so many sacrificing leaders… there were many leaders in the party (AL) who sacrificed a lot and the party is still surviving after so many blows for their sacrifices,” she said.
The Prime Minister said this while addressing a commemorative meeting on Nurul Islam, a former AL Publicity Secretary and
close associate of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, and MA Aziz, acting president of Dhaka Mohanagar Awami League, who died recently.
Dhaka Mahanagar Awami League organised the meeting at the Institution of Engineers’, Bangladesh.
Sheikh Hasina said, these leaders never do politics for their personal gains. “They always sacrifice their personal interests for the country and the party.”
She asked the party activists to learn from the lives of these leaders like Nurul Islam and MA Aziz. “Learn from their lives and strengthen the party through sacrificing your personal interest.”
Hasina said, the death of Nurul Islam and MA Aziz is a big blow to the party. “It’s very much painful for us all,” she added.
Presided over by Kamal Ahmed Majumder, the meeting was addressed, among others, by Industries Minister Amir Hossain Amu, Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed, Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Disaster Management and Relief Minister Mofazzal Hossain Chowdhury Maya, AL joint secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, AL joint secretary Jahangir Kabir Nanok, MP, AKM Rahmat Ullah, MP, Food Minister Quamrul Islam, MP, Barrister Fazle Nur Taposh, MP, Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan, son of MA Aziz- Omar Bin Aziz Tamim, Mukul Chowdhury and Haji Mohammad Selim, MP.
