Awami League (AL) General Secretary and Road, Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader on Thursday said that they have started purification drives against own party workers and leaders involved in illegal activities.
“Casino culture had started during BNP era and they failed to take legal action against the casino runners. But, Awami League led government had done what BNP failed to do. BNP should congratulate the government for the ongoing drive,”
he told reporters at the Osmani International Airport in Sylhet.
The AL general secretary said, “The misdeeds like tender manipulation, extortion, corruption, drug peddling and terrorism had also spread during BNP’s tenure, but they didn’t take any step against anyone of their party.”
He also said that BNP should greet AL and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as she started the ‘purification drive’ in her own party in contrast to Khaleda Zia.
