At least eight people, including a rebel councillor candidate of Awami League for Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) polls, were injured in an attack allegedly by the supporters of AL-backed candidate in West Jatrabari area of the city early Sunday.
Among the injured, rebel AL councillor Fakhrul Islam Murad,40, also president of ward no-50 unit of Jubo League, was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Hospital sources said some supporters of AL-backed councillor candidate Sayem Khandakar attacked Murad and his supporters when they gathered at the camp office of the polls in the area at about 12:30 am, leaving eight people, including Murad injured.
