AL observes 68th founding anniv

The district unit of Bangladesh Awami League (AL) observed the 68th founding anniversary of the party on Friday through various day-long programmes in the city.
The programmes included hoisting of the national and party flags at party office, placing of wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu in the morning followed by a discussion, Iftar party and doa mahfil at Police Community Hall in the evening.
Acting president of district AL Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed presided over the discussion.
General secretary of district AL Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju, its Joint Secretary Professor Mazed Ali Babul, Organising Secretary Alhaj Motahar Hossain Mandal Mowla, among others, addressed the discussion moderated by Office Secretary Tauhidur Rahman Tutul.
With city president of the AL Shafiur Rahman Shafi in the chair, General Secretary Tushar Kanti Mandal, District Muktijoddha Commander Mosaddek Hossain Bablu and Deputy Commander Motiar Rahman, former principal of Rangpur Medical College Professor Dr Abdur Rouf, JASOD leader Dr Ekramul Hossain Swapan, president of district unit of Workers’ Party Nazrul Islam Hokkani, leaders of different associate bodies of AL and 14-party-alliance were present, among others.
The speakers said Bangabandhu and AL are inseparable and the party is now building a Sonar Bangla under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to make independence meaningful for every citizen.
Advocate Rezaul Karim Raju narrated glorious history of AL and said the country achieved independence through the War of Liberation in 1971 under the leadership of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Mamtaz Uddin Ahmed called upon the leaders and activists of AL and its associate bodies for ensuring welfare of the people. Before Iftar mahfil, Ulama League leader Moulana Moynul Hossain conducted special munajats seeking divine blessings for the departed soul of Bangabandhu, sound health and long life of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, continuous peace, prosperity and progress of the country and its people.
