A union parishad chairman sustained stab injuries in an attack allegedly by activists of the ruling Awami League at Dakhkhin Keowa village in Sadar upazila on Wednesday morning.
The injured was identified as Sona Miah Bepari, 70, chairman of Mohakali union parishad and an adviser of the upazila unit of BNP.
Sona’s younger brother Samad Bepari said a group of miscreants, numbering 7-8, stormed the house of Sona Miah at the village around 9:15am and called him out of the house.
The miscreants then forced Sona to arrange casting of all votes of his area for the AL-supported candidate in the Thursday’s upazila election.
