The ruling Awami League has asked its leaders and workers of respective areas to stay beside the flood victims as well as continue their ongoing efforts in the wake of the coronavirus outbreak.
The directives came recently from an ad-hoc meeting attended by the party central leaders at the AL President’s Dhanmondi political office. AL Presidium Members Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Abdur Rahman, Joint General Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Organizing Secretaries BM Mozammel Haque, SM Kamal Hossain, Mirza Azam and Shakhawat Hossain Shafique, Relief and Social Welfare Secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, Deputy Office Secretary Sayem Khan, Central Working Committee members Advocate ABM Riazul Kabir Kawser, Anisur Rahman and Sahabuddin Farazi joined it.
At the outset of the meeting, AL leaders expressed deep shock and sorrow at the deaths in the launch capsize in Buriganga on Monday, prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls and conveyed deep sympathy the bereaved families.
Marking the birth centenary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, they also urged the leaders and workers of the party across the country to plant at least three saplings of fruit-bearing, medicinal and forest plants following the directives of Prime Minister and AL President Sheikh Hasina. They also discussed programmes for martyrdom anniversary of Bangabandhu to be observed on August 15.
