AL man killed in Pabna factional clash

An Awami League activist was killed and a dozen others were injured when two factions of the ruling party locked in a gunfight in Sadar upazila of Pabna.
The deceased — Amzad Mondol, 50 – was shot when the factions, led by Hossain Mondol and Jalal Mondol, were engaged in a gunfight over a dispute centering ownership of a plot of land , Kazi Haniful Islam officer-in-charge of Pabna Sadar Police Station told the media.
However, unconfirmed sources claimed that the clash occurred during an arbitration over dissatisfaction in the party centring the upazila polls in Pabna Sadar upazila on March 31.
Members of the factions open fired on each other at one stage of the arbitration, claimed an AL man.
Amzad succumbed to his injuries on way to Pabna Medical College Hospital, the police said.
The injured were admitted to the hospital. None was arrested in this connection till the time of filing the report at 10 PM on Wednesday.
