A political activist who recently joined Awami League quitting Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal was chopped to death by miscreants at Ambaria in Mirpur upazila on Wednesday.
The deceased was identified as Lutfar Rahman Sabu, 45. Former organising secretary of the upazila unit of Jatiyatabadi Krishak Dal, the associate peasant
wing of BNP, Sabu joined the ruling party recently.
Quoting witnesses, Officer-in-Charge of Mirpur Police Station Qazi Jalal Uddin said Sabu came under attack by a group of miscreants in front of Ambaria graveyard around 1:30 pm while returning home from Halsa Bazar.
The attackers hacked him with sharp weapons indiscriminately, leaving him dead on the spot.
