AL leaders Enu, his brother put on remand

A Dhaka court yesterday placed Awami League leaders Enamul Haque Enu and his brother Rupon Bhuiyan on a four-day remand each in two separate cases filed on charge of money laundering.
Dhaka’s Metropolitan Magistrate Rajesh Chowdhury passed the order on Tuesday.
Earlier, Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of police sought 10-day remand for each in two separate money laundering cases. CID arrested Enamul Haque Enu and his brother Rupon Bhuiyan from Keraniganj area of Dhaka on Monday morning.Dhaka Wanderers Club’s casino shareholder Enamul Haque Enu was the Vice-President of Gendaria Thana unit of Awami League and his brother Rupon Bhuiyan was the Joint General Secretary of the Awami Leaque unit.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) raided three houses of them at Banianagar and Narinda in Old Dhaka soon after the raid at the Dhaka Wanderers Club. During the raid, RAB found Tk 5.05 crore in cash, around 8.5kgs of gold worth Tk 4 crore and six firearms stashed in five vaults in those houses.
Following this, members of Rapid Action Battalion-3 filed seven cases against them with Wari, Gendaria and Sutrapur Police Stations under Money Laundering Prevention Act, Special Power Act and Arms Act.
