A Dhaka court yesterday (Wednesday) sent Motijheel Thana Awami League general secretary Zahidul Islam Tipu and also an accused in the Jubo League leader Milky murder case to jail rejecting his bail petition.
Magistrate Anwar Sadat of Dhaka’s Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court passed the order after Zahidul Islam Tipu surrendered to the court on Wednesday.
However, Tipu’s lawyer told newsmen that his client secured bail from the High Court Division in the
case on July 7. Besides, the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case earlier appealed to the court to relieve 10 accused, including Tipu from the case as he found no witness and document about their involvement in the incident of killing.
Rezaul Haque Khan Milky, organizing secretary of Dhaka city south unit, Jubo League was gunned down by miscreants in front of Shoppers’ World at Gulshan Avenue-1 in the capital on July 29 last year.
Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested six persons in this connection and submitted a charge-sheet against 12 people on April 15.
Hours after the incident, the main accused of the murder incident Jubo League leader Zahid Siddiki Tarek was killed in crossfire with RAB. Besides, another alleged terrorist Shah Alam was also killed in a ‘shootout’ with RAB at Uttara in the city. TV channels carried the footages grabbed by the close circuit cameras of the shopping complex.
Major Rashedul Haque Khan, elder brother of Milky, filed a case on the same day, (July 30) against 11 named and some unidentified people.
On August 3 last year, RAB members arrested Lopa, wife of Milky’s chauffeur and close associate Maruf Reza Sagor and she confessed to a Dhaka court the following day admitting her involvement in the conspiracy of killing.
