A local Awami League leader was stabbed to death by miscreants at Moazzempur village in Nandail upazila of the district on Friday night.
The deceased was identified as Morshed Uddin Khan, 55, who was the President of Moazzempur Union AL unit.
The murder took place at Moazzempur village around 10 pm on the way to his village residence on Friday night. He died at the scene, Liton Miah, Sub Inspector of Nandail Police Station, told media.
Attack had connection to the previous enmity. Police detained suspect Nur, 35, in connection with the death. Supporters of Morshed also attacked some houses and began agitation in the area SI added.
