A local Awami League leader, also a union parishad chairman, was shot to death by miscreants at Baliadanga in Sadar upazila of Jessore district on Tuesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Mosharraf Hossain, 48, chairman of Ichhali union and also vice-president of the same union unit of the ruling party.
Officer-in-Charge Enamul Haque of Kotwali Police Station said a group of miscreants opened fire on Mosharraf while he was passing through the area on a bike at about 11:00 am, leaving him dead on the spot. Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Jessore Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
