AL leader Kanak murder, husband confesses

A Dhaka court yesterday recorded the confessional statement of Omar Faruque admitting his involvement in the murder of his wife capital’s Pallabi Awami League Relief and Social Welfare Sub-committee member Umama Begum Kanak.
Magistrate Mohammad Jasim of the CMM Court of Dhaka recorded the confessional statement of the accused Omar Faruque. Earlier, Investigation Officer of the case, Pallabi Police Station SI Abdul Azad produced the accused in the court to record his voluntary statement. Later, accused Faruque was sent to the jail.
On Friday midnight, Faruque reportedly hacked his wife Kanak with a kitchen knife in his DOHS residence under Pallabi Police Station. Later, seriously injured victim was taken to a local hospital. As his condition deteriorated, she was shifted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where she succumbed to the injuries during treatment on Saturday morning.
